Diecutting
Cut. Reveal. Captivate.
With diecutting you can add depth, intrigue, and a touch of surprise, inviting readers to peek through custom shapes and discover the story before they even turn the first page.

How Does Diecutting Work?
Diecutting involves using a custom-made metal die to cut a specific shape through the book cover material. The die is installed into a press and pressed into the cover material with heavy pressure.

Helpful Hints
- Images visible through the die cut should either bleed beyond or be smaller than the cutout, never 1:1…allow for 0.125″ movement tolerance.
- Diecutting occurs after the case is printed, laminated, cut, and wrapped. This sequence introduces potential for slight misalignment, especially when registering to printed or foiled elements.
- Shapes with narrow sections or fine tails can cause tearing and may require redesign.
- Diecutting is not recommended through heavy spot UV (50+ microns).
