Responsible paper sourcing, waste reduction, energy efficient technologies, and strong community partnerships all play a role in reducing our environmental impact while helping publishers bring books to life responsibly.

Sustainable Practices in Action
Responsible Paper Sourcing
As one of the first printing companies in Canada to achieve FSC Certification, responsible forestry remains central to our operations.
- 97% of all paper used is FSC certified
- 100% of all coated paper is FSC certified
- 95% of uncoated paper is FSC certified
Reducing Waste
Our sustainability efforts began long before sustainability became a “business trend”.
- 100% of paper waste is recycled
- Approximately 267,000 pounds of aluminum are recycled annually
- Reusable ink barrel systems have reduced disposable waste since the 1970s
- Waste tracking systems help identify opportunities to reduce production waste
Energy and Equipment Investments
We continue to invest in technologies that improve efficiency and reduce environmental impact.
- Production facilities powered primarily by hydroelectricity, with additional wind-generated energy
- LED press curing technology reduces energy consumption compared to traditional drying methods
- High-speed inkjet printing enables more efficient production and reduces waste
- Automated production systems help optimize material usage and reduce manufacturing waste
- Alcohol-free press operations and environmentally conscious blanket wash processes to improve air quality
