Governance

Governance Built on Accountability

Governance at Friesens is built on transparency, accountability, employee ownership, and shared responsibility. Our governance structure ensures decision-making remains closely connected to the people who help guide our company every day.

The Friesens Way to Governance

Strong governance creates the foundation for responsible growth, ethical decision-making, and long-term stewardship. Because Friesens is employee-owned, our governance model reflects the values of accountability, inclusion, and shared responsibility.

We approach governance through a “Triple Bottom Line” lens, considering the impact of decisions on people, the environment, and long-term business performance. This balanced approach helps ensure responsible leadership while supporting sustainable growth for future generations.

Governance In Action

Employee-Elected Leadership

All members of Friesens’ Board of Directors are elected by employee-owners, helping ensure leadership remains aligned with the long-term interests of the company and its stakeholders.

Diverse Perspectives

Two-thirds of the Board of Directors are employees of the company, and at least one board member serves as a non-management representative. This structure helps ensure a broad range of voices and perspectives are reflected in board oversight.

Long-Term Stewardship

Our governance model supports responsible decision-making that balances business performance with the well-being of employees, customers, communities, and the natural environment through the Triple Bottom Line approach.

Why Governance Matters

Good governance creates confidence. For customers, it provides assurance that Friesens operates with transparency and accountability. For employee-owners, it creates meaningful participation and shared responsibility. For communities and partners, it supports sustainable, long-term business leadership.

Governance at Friesens is guided by our Leadership Operating System (Leadership OS) which provides a consistent framework for decision-making and leadership across the organization. The Leadership OS helps align the Board of Directors, leadership teams, and employee-owners around shared values, clear accountability, and long-term objectives.

Looking Ahead

As Friesens continues to grow, our governance framework helps ensure we remain focused on responsible leadership, continuous improvement, and long-term value creation for all stakeholders. Guided by employee ownership, we are committed to making decisions that support future generations of customers, employee-owners, and communities.
