Tariffs Update – March 12, 2025

| Books

~ from Chad Friesen, CEO

We are navigating uncertain times with the on-again, off-again tariffs and evolving trade war. However, we are fortunate that our products are mostly protected.

We have confirmed and experienced that printed books continue to cross the border smoothly and without tariffs under exemption from the International Emergency Economic Powers Act. This exemption applies to informational materials to help protect First Amendment Rights.

However, Canada may introduce retaliatory tariffs on printers’ paper from the USA. To manage this, we are increasing our paper inventory, testing alternative papers from other countries, applying for tariff relief, and advocating for the elimination of the tariff completely. These steps will limit the pain of this tariff and avoid any major impact on prices or expenses.

We remain concerned about the damage this unnecessary trade war will have on both of our countries, but the threat to our immediate supply chains is limited in comparison to others.

Rest assured that our primary objectives are to protect the livelihoods of our employee-owners and to defend relationships with our customers. While other companies may act quickly to cut jobs or raise prices, we plan to be a stable and reliable partner for all our stakeholders.

We will continue working hard for you, please continue relying on us as a trusted partner. Thank you for your support!
