The 17th Annual Canadian Printing Awards gala was held on November 9, 2023 in Toronto, celebrating Canadian printing excellence and innovation, environmental leadership, and the individuals who have led within the industry. Friesens was proud to be recognized as an industry leader, winning four awards across a wide range of categories.
Chad Friesen, CEO of Friesens Corporation, was awarded the Printing Leader of the Year Award, and while he says he is very grateful to be recognized, he doesn’t deserve the spotlight alone and accepted the award on behalf of the entire employee-owner team. He says, “We have a saying at Friesens, “We Before Me” and it tries to condense what it means to be an employee-owner in our company. We focus on mutual benefit over individual recognition.”
Friesens won the award for Best Print Project, the Prairies (Manitoba, Saskatchewan, and Alberta) for Inuit Sanaugangit: Art Across Time, the catalogue of the Winnipeg Art Gallery-Qaumajuq exhibition Inuit Sanaugangit: Art Across Time. The book features images of artistic expression from approximately 200 BCE until the present day, encompassing over 400 artworks produced by artists from Siberia, Alaska, Canada and Greenland.
Awards were also won in the categories of Best Binding Stitching, Perfect Binding, Coil, Wire, Case Binding and Best Finishing – Deboss.
We at Friesens are honoured to receive these awards. Thank you to the judging panel for this recognition and congratulations to all the winners!
