Building Your Future

Employee Testimonies:

The first time I heard about Friesens was during my second semester at college in Toronto. My relatives were living in Altona and had been working at the company for a couple of months. As my time at college was ending, their experience with Friesens encouraged me to see for myself what was so unique about this organization. Not many companies are around for that long these days and after this time within the company, I can understand the reasons of their success.

Friesens is a place where I am creative, innovative, a team player and also a leader. Friesens is a place where you are constantly learning from others as well as sharing your knowledge. As a Packaging Specialist in think4D, I have had the opportunity to connect with so many wonderful people, ranging from our team of designers, operators, production staff, dispatchers, to our suppliers and of course customers from all over the world. And if that was not exciting enough, I am fortunate to say that my job allows me to use my ability to speak Spanish daily. As an immigrant, it makes me so proud to use this skill to contribute to my company’s success.

I am thankful to belong to this powerful community of employee-owners and looking forward to continue creating and providing high quality products and services for our customers.

Packaging Specialist – think4D

I joined Friesens in September 2008 working in production, and since 2013 I’ve been working in administration. I’ve enjoyed learning the Friesens business, our relentless pursue of continuous improvement, training opportunities, and working with all the great people that make Friesens successful. Employee-ownership is a well-known business model to get staff more engaged with their company and performance – to which we’ve accomplished well for many decades. This is truly a great team of people to work with!

Friesens Corporation provides great opportunities for its employee owners!  When I started at Friesens in 1993, I worked in a support position and had the opportunity to move through various departments.  Over the course of five years, I worked in the Bindery, Production Control, Fulfillment, Accounting and Customer Service.  I left Friesens for a number of years when our children were small, however I did have an opportunity to work in a support role part of that time.  When it was time for our children to head off to school full time, I started working at Friesens. I started by being involved in a project for Marketing, then moved into Estimating, and my most recent transition into the Training Coordinator role happened in 2011.  Friesens has supported my educational goals, allowing me to become better equipped for this role and in 2016 I was honoured to join the Board of Directors for a two year term as the Staff Representative.  I am grateful for the opportunities that I have had, and encourage others to become part of our world class company!  As employee owners we share in the success of the company, and we have a fantastic benefits package that helps meet the financial needs of our families.  We also have great social events that incorporate fun and community into our lives.

As a 35 year employee/owner at Friesens, I am proud of Friesens commitment to our customers, our employee-owners, our suppliers and our community.  Friesens is a company that allows for growth from within while looking outward to build a world class company.  I began my career out of high school working on a press and have been able to advance within Friesens to a senior manager position.  Friesens has provided an opportunity for me and many others to build rewarding careers while remaining in the community.   The relentless pursuit of improvement, innovation, and a vision for the future makes me proud to call Friesens my employer.
