Design Tips

Being responsible for the design of a book that will become a lifelong keepsake can be an overwhelming process. Here are a few things to keep in mind:

  1. Settle on a theme and carry this from the cover, to the endsheets and through the content of your book.

  2. Choose a maximum of 3-5 fonts. Any more can be distracting.

  3. Decide on a column plan and use this consistently throughout your book.

  4. Create templates for Divider Pages, Portrait Pages, and Candid Pages so you have consistency throughout your book. (Especially with so many people potentially building spreads.)

  5. Consider having an editor to check specifically for consistency. Are all headline fonts the same, caption fonts, margins, etc.
