Carey-Kehler

Carey Kehler History Book Consultant | Manitoba & North Dakota | Canada & USA

I enjoy travelling, photography, gardening, music, nature, a good thunderstorm, and getting together with friends and family. I also play bass guitar in a blues band and occasionally in our church worship band. I am also on a restoration committee that restores old Mennonite housebarns in the village of Neubergthal.

My wife and I were married in 1976 and have two adult sons. We have two cats, both of which are “rescue” animals that showed up at our house as kittens.
One of the best parts of my job is to see a book come to life from just a thought, idea or concept. Preserving memories with ink on paper is absolutely essential if we wish to keep history alive for future generations.

Jim Saunders History Book Consultant | Alberta | Canada

Most of my early years were spent in Winnipeg. After finishing my BA in Economics at the University of Winnipeg and playing hockey for a year in Germany I started my career working for McGraw Hill Ryerson Publishing in their college and university division. One of my main competitors worked for Prentice Hall Publishing and her name was Karen Gagnon. We started dating, fell in love, married and moved together to Toronto to each continue our careers in the textbook publishing industry.

An opportunity for us to work together came our way and took us to Calgary in 1989 where we took over the yearbook territory in southern Alberta for Jostens Canada Ltd. Our daughter was soon born (1990) and our son soon after (1991). They are both still living and working in Calgary and we are very proud of them both.

We continued helping teachers and students capture their school year histories in photos and stories for their yearbooks until after over 28 years and over 35 years in publishing, we retired in June of 2018. We were contacted by Friesens in the fall of 2018. We had always respected and admired Friesens as our main yearbook competitor and the opportunity and challenge they offered us to take over for the retiring Jim Beckel in their History Book division was enough for us to end our short lived retirement.

Lynda-Hiebert

Lynda Hiebert Customer Project Specialist | Canada & USA

I enjoy spending time with family and friends, and especially my grandchildren. I also enjoy reading, quilting and gardening.

I have worked with history books at Friesens for many years, and my favourite part of the job is meeting the people from the various committees across Canada and beyond. I get a great deal of pleasure and take pride in helping each group bring their book from a concept to a finished product that they will treasure.

I am here to help answer your questions and guide you through the process of creating your book. I look forward to working on your book project with you.
