Metal Inlays

Metal Makes Magic
Give your yearbook cover a bold, high-end look with metal inlays. They’re true showstoppers! They combine a layer of metal with sculpted embossing to create an eye-catching and tactile impression.
How Does It Work?
A metal inlay works kind of like a puzzle piece. The process starts with a custom die that has a sharp knife-edge (not the kind used for embossing). Friesens cuts out a shape from the cover that matches your design, then fits a thin piece of metal right into that space.

What Are Our Options?
You’ve got choices! We offer metal inlays in six shiny colours: gold, silver, copper, blue, green, and red.

A Flashy Finishing Touch
There’s a lot of fun things you can do with metal inlays. You can use them to highlight your school crest, make your theme title shine, or add custom shapes like shields, initials, or abstract icons that fit your theme. They look especially sharp when paired with textured materials or layered with embossing for extra depth.
Things to Keep In Mind
- Keep inlays at least 1″ from the edges and 1/2″ from panel overlaps.
- Don’t place inlays over silk-screened areas as the ink could melt.
- Avoid super sharp angles…rounded corners work best.
- Use fonts with open shapes and avoid super fine details.
