Friesens Partnership with YFC Altona

Friesens is pleased to announce a new partnership with YFC Altona in their efforts to build an expanded youth drop-in center and makerspace in the community.

YFC Altona is a Non-profit organization focused on supporting youth by providing a safe and inspirational place to gather, create, and share. They are expanding their programs to be even more welcoming to a broader community of young people.

We have granted YFC the use of 7,000 square feet of space in the building located at 35 6th Street SE, Altona. This represents over six times the size of the existing YFC facility.

YFC is launching a fundraising campaign over the coming months to fund a renovation project followed by potential occupancy in late 2021.

Community-building is a core value of Friesens Corporation. This project was of particular interest because it supports youth and exposes more people in the community to the tools and skills that businesses will be seeking in the future. The makerspace will offer access and training on 3D printers, laser cutters, virtual reality tools, CNC and more. While these tools will be used as a creative outlet today, they will also be developing marketable skills for the future.

“We are proud to support YFC Altona in this expansion and in their work to offer a positive outlet for youth in the community. We are also excited about the makerspace and the opportunity for young people to gain exposure to the tools and skills that businesses will be hiring for in the future.  This initiative is a win-win-win-win for YFC, for the community, for local businesses, and most importantly for our young people. We encourage the entire community to get behind this initiative.” Chad Friesen, CEO of Friesens Corporation
