Create Memorable Covers with our new MGI JETvarnish & Foil Machine

We are excited to announce that a new Konica Minolta MGI JETvarnish 3D Evolution (UV) machine was installed at Friesens in May. This second JETvarnish machine is adding more capacity to the MGI JETvarnish machine we installed two years ago in our cover decorating department. We are already running live jobs on the new machine, applying spot gloss UV to covers and dust jackets.
Our new MGI JETvarnish machine has a few upgraded features over our current machine.
- Ability to pre-treat laminated sheets with an electrostatic charge to better accept spot gloss UV to scuff resistant matte laminate. This treatment will also help foil stamping to adhere better to the laminate.
- In-line foil capability. This is an exciting feature we are looking forward to using in the near future. Due to COVID-19 restrictions on travel between countries, we are waiting for the ability to have technicians from Konica Minolta come to our plant to complete the setup and train our operators. This new in-line foil feature will bring new opportunities to apply foil in some interesting ways with incredible detail and registration. We look forward to unveiling this new, exciting foiling feature very soon!
- Artificial Intelligence SmartScanner creates an automatic registration for inkjet heads over the preprinted covers or dust jackets. While our other UV machine also has SmartScanner abilities, this new generation technology adds to the already impressive details we can register to.
We have very high expectations for this new JETvarnish (UV) machine. Friesens is continuously committed to providing our customers with the most up-to-date technology offered in print production.
