Robot Operator Bindery | Book Division | Application Form

The Robot Operator is responsible for the efficient operation of the Mottoman Robot Arm. The Robot Arm transfers boxes of books coming off the Hardcover Bookline and stacks them onto skids in preparation for shipping. In addition to operating the robot arm, you will cross train to run other small equipment in the bindery.

Position Overview:
• Request and arrange the components of the job in advance
• Set up the robot arm machine using the box measurements
• Flip skids on skid turner
• Conduct periodic visual and measurement checks
• Apply labels to boxes
• Arrange for product storage
• Perform machine maintenance as described in the Maintenance Binder and the Operator’s Manual
• Cross train and run other small equipment in the Bindery
• Perform Production Support duties as needed

Dummy Book Making/Small Equipment Operator Bindery | Book Division | Application Form

This position requires a good understanding of the book binding process. Small Equipment is utilized to produce good quality sample or dummy books for customers to give them a visual of their finished product.

• Deals with electrical issues to keep the equipment running
• Assists in the maintenance of a suppliers listing for purchasing supplies and parts
• Keep a supply of regularly used parts in stock and order other parts as required

• Participates in Friesens “lock-out” procedures

The Level 2 Press Operator is responsible to assist the Lead Press Operator to ensure the safe, efficient operation, cleaning of and running adjustments of the press, producing printed product according to docket and proof instructions. Together the Lead and Level 2 Operators are responsible for the prescribed quantity and quality of product produced.

• Follow instructions of Lead Press Operator

• Return unused paper and store press sheets
