Folder Operator Bindery | Book Division | Application Form

The Folder Operator is responsible to ensure the safe, efficient operation, cleaning of and running adjustments of the Folder. The Folding Machine converts printed press sheets/end sheet stock into folded signatures/folded end sheets. He/she is also responsible for the prescribed quantity and quality of product produced. Other responsibilities include troubleshooting machine basic performance, making adjustments and calling for additional resources as required.

12-Hour Early Week Night Shift (6 PM – 6 AM; Sun, Mon & Tues)
Full Time

Position Overview:
• Work and communicate effectively with the manager, Shift Managers and staff
• Carry out jobs according to the schedule or as directed by the Shift Manager
• Manage the folder operation for quality, efficiency, and productivity
• Understand the job requirements from information on the docket and other sources
• Request and arrange the components of the job in advance
• Set up the folder as required
• Flip skids on skid turner as necessary
• Run sample signatures making necessary adjustments
• Perform folder maintenance as described in the Folder Maintenance Binder and the Operator’s Manual
• Practice Friesens safety procedure for equipment and plant situations
• Perform any other job assignments as assigned by the Shift Manager or Manager

Desired Skills:
• High School diploma, GED or equivalent
• Mechanical and mathematical aptitude
• Strong work ethic
• Ability to work independently in a busy environment
• Able to communicate effectively in English both verbally and in writing
• Able to work well under pressure
• Strong attention to detail
• Basic computer skills

Web Press Level 2 Operator Press | Web | Application Form

Web printing is a form of offset printing in which a continuous roll of paper is fed through the printing press. Pages are separated and cut to size after they have been printed. The Level 2 Web Press Operator is responsible to assist the Lead Web Press Operator in the safe, efficient operation of the press to produce printed product according to the docket and proof instructions. Other responsibilities include troubleshooting basic machine performance, making adjustments and calling for additional resources as required.

Position Overview:
• Manage feeder duties for quality, efficiency and productivity
• Understand the job requirements from the docket and proofs
• Follow instructions of the Lead Press Operator
• Ensure sufficient supply of paper rolls are available to keep the press running
• Perform set up and running duties
• Verify/prepare and maintain ink supply
• Mount plates and set up the feeder
• Clean blankets
• Bundle completed sections
• Weigh and return unused paper
• Assist with required press maintenance
• Forklift training is required and will be provided
• Willing to work at other cost centers

Desired Skills:
• High School Diploma or equivalent
• Experience with routine maintenance operations
• Able to effectively communicate both verbally and in writing in the English language
• Ability to work under tight deadlines
• Strong attention to detail
• Basic computer skills
• Training and experience on press equipment preferred
• Basic computer skills
