Standard Soft Cover
Soft Yet Sharp
Softcover book covers offer a sleek, flexible solution for a wide range of publishing needs. Lightweight and easy to handle, they’re ideal for everything from novels and catalogues to workbooks and graphic novels. At Friesens, our softcover options are designed to balance durability with visual appeal, using high-quality stocks and precise finishing.

How Is It Made?
Softcover books are made by attaching a printed paper or card stock cover directly to the spine of the book block using adhesive binding. The cover stock typically ranges from 8 pt to 15 pt in thickness and is selected based on the desired durability and finish. Once printed, the cover is laminated for extra durability (in most cases), scored and folded to wrap snugly around the trimmed book block, aligning flush with the edges for a clean, professional look.
What Are the Key Benefits of Standard Soft Covers?
Affordability & Efficiency
Softcover books are more economical to produce than hardcovers, making them ideal for large print runs and budget-conscious projects. Friesens uses perfect binding for most softcovers, which is fast, reliable, and cost-effective.
Portability & Convenience
Their lightweight nature makes softcovers easy to carry, store, and ship, perfect for readers on the go or for distribution at events and conferences.
Design Flexibility
Soft covers offer a wide range of design possibilities, including flaps, sprayed edges, and various lamination options.
Space Saving
Softcover books take up less space than hardcovers, making them easier to organize and display in retail, library, or personal settings.
