Plastic Spiral Binding
Function, Flair, and Flexibility
Plastic spiral binding (also known as coil binding) is a flexible and durable binding method used across a wide range of industries. With vibrant coil colour options and excellent page-turning ease, plastic spiral binding combines function, flair, and long-lasting performance.

What is Plastic Spiral Binding?
Plastic spiral binding involves punching holes along the edge of a book block and inserting a plastic coil that winds through the holes from end-to-end. The coil is crimped at both ends to prevent it from unwinding. This method allows the book to lay completely flat when open and even fold back on itself, making it ideal for hands-on or reference-heavy materials.
Flexible & Durable Coil
The coil used is flexible enough to allow books to lay flat or fold back on themselves without damaging the book.
Wide Range of Sizes & Colours
Friesens supports a variety of trim sizes and coil diameters. Coils are also available in multiple colours, allowing for customization that complements cover designs.
High Page Capacity
Plastic spiral binding accommodates a wide range of page counts, typically from 8 to 800 pages, depending on paper thickness and coil size. This makes it suitable for everything from slim guides to substantial workbooks.
Versatile Orientation
Plastic coils can be bound on either the left or the top edge, depending on the design and intended use. This flexibility supports both portrait and landscape formats.
