Concealed Wire-O Binding

Structure and Subtlety

Concealed Wire-O is where sleek design meets smart engineering. Hidden beneath a hardcover wrap, the binding delivers the flexibility of a lay flat book with none of the visible hardware. It’s the perfect blend of structure and subtlety…binding that works behind the scenes to keep the pages turning.

What is Concealed Wire-O Binding?

The process to create a concealed Wire-O binding is the same as the standard Wire-O binding, with a few extra steps. After the book block is gathered and punched, and the Wire-O coils have been threaded, the book is trimmed in anticipation of the cover. This hardcover is prepared separately, then wrapped around the wire-bound book block, fully encasing the wire so it’s not visible. The cover is pressed or glued in place, ensuring the wire remains hidden and the book give a professional hardcover appearance.

Clean & Polished Appearance

Concealed Wire-O Binding hides the wire element within the printed and wrapped cover, giving the book a clean and polished spine. Although the wire is hidden, the cover can still be printed and decorated like any other hardcover, offering the tactile and visual benefits of a hardcover with the flexibility of wire binding.

Layflat Functionality

Like traditional Wire-O binding, concealed Wire-O allows the book to lay flat when open, especially useful when hands-free reading is beneficial.
