The EUDR was officially amended on December 23, 2025, by the European Parliament and Council.
Two amendments are very relevant to book publishers:
- Implementation of and compliance with the EUDR has been delayed to December 30, 2026.
- Printed books, newspapers, pictures and other products of the printing industry, manuscripts, typescripts and plans, of paper are now exempt from the regulations.
This is from the Official Journal of the European Union:
… in Annex I, in the table, the line ‘ex 49 Printed books, newspapers, pictures and other products of the printing industry, manuscripts, typescripts and plans, of paper’ is deleted;

Based on this, Friesens will be ceasing all efforts related to EUDR regulations.
However, sustainability and responsible forest management remains a high priority for our company. As part of this commitment, Friesens has maintained FSC® Chain of Custody (COC) certification since 2004. We continue to participate in the FSC COC certification program and undergo annual audits to ensure compliance with FSC standards.
