The Night Before Christmas – Friesens Edition

Get ready for a little holiday magic…Friesens style!

Enjoy our take on The Night Before Christmas, but before you watch, we just want to say how proud we are of our entire Friesens team. Every year their creativity and teamwork make the holidays extra special. We hope you enjoy this little glimpse into our holiday spirit!

‘Twas the night before Christmas, and all through the plant,
Not a press was still humming, not even a chant.
The Manroland rested, its blankets all clean,
While the bindery slept in a holiday scene.

The paper was stacked by the collator with care,
In hopes that tomorrow, fresh jobs would be there.
The paper was stacked, the pallets aligned,
With covers and pages all perfectly timed.

Cam and Ryan nestled all snug in their chairs,
Guiding their teams with vision and flair.
Pamela with her planner, me with campaign flair,
Had just wrapped up our year with creative to spare.

When out on the dock there arose such a clatter,
I sprang from my desk to see what was the matter.
Away to the window I flew like a flash,
Tore open the blinds and made a quick dash.

The moon on the snow gave a soft winter glow,
To pallets of titles all ready to go.
When what to my wondering eyes did appear,
But a sleigh full of books and eight reindeer!

With a driver so jolly, in red coat and specs,
I knew it was Santa, reviewing OUR specs.
More rapid than rush jobs, his praises they came,
He whistled and shouted and called us by name:

“Now Joselin! Now Jonie! Now Byron and Dan!
On Barry! On Odia! On Chad and on Stan!”
To the top of the charts, to the top of the wall,
Friesens books shine the brightest of all!

As toner dust settles when presses slow down.
He flew through the bindery, all over the town.
So up to the rooftop the reindeer they flew,
With a sleigh full of titles, and Saint Nicholas too.

He was dressed all in red, from his head to his heel,
With a barcode scanner and a fresh reprint seal.
A bundle of books he had flung on his back,
And he looked like a shipper just opening his pack.

He spoke not a word, but went straight to his task,
Checked every ISBN, no need to ask.
He nodded at covers, admired the gloss,
“Spot UV? Foil?  You’re clearly the boss!”

He sprang to his sleigh, gave the team a big cheer,
“Friesens, you’ve nailed it…another great year!”
And I heard him exclaim as he drove out of sight,
“May your holidays sparkle and your presses print bright!”
