Supporting Our Community Together

| Books

Giving back isn’t just something we do once in a while at Friesens. It’s part of who we are. We believe that strong communities grow when people support one another in real, meaningful ways.

That spirit was on full display through our most recent Employee-Directed Giving Campaign. Thanks to the generosity of Friesens employee owners, $9,808 was donated to the Rhineland & Area Food Bank. We were proud to present the cheque to Ang Stoesz, a long-time board member who has dedicated decades to helping the Food Bank serve our community.

GIVING THAT STARTS WITH OUR PEOPLE

What makes the Employee-Directed Giving Campaign so special is that it’s driven by our employees. Rather than decisions being made from the top down, employee owners choose which local organizations receive support. It’s a simple idea…but a powerful one…because it ensures that donations go where they matter most to the people who live and work here.

The Rhineland & Area Food Bank was an easy choice. Entirely volunteer-run and locally funded, the Food Bank supports dozens of households each week, providing access to nutritious food with dignity and respect. Every dollar is used thoughtfully, stretching as far as possible through strong local partnerships and careful planning.

During our visit, Ang shared how committed the Food Bank is to using donations wisely. From managing food costs to reducing waste, the focus is always on making sure community support turns into real help for real people.

MORE THAN JUST A DONATION

While financial support is important, this contribution represents more than a dollar amount. It reflects shared values…care for others, responsibility, and a long-term commitment to community.

This donation will help support the Food Bank to purchase food, as well as ongoing operations and contribute toward future improvements that will make their work more sustainable. One example is their hope to build a dedicated loading dock, which would make deliveries safer, more accessible, and easier for volunteers.

For Friesens, supporting organizations like the Food Bank fits naturally with our employee-owned culture. When employees feel ownership in their workplace, that sense of responsibility often extends beyond the company…to the communities where we live, work, play, and raise our families.

COMMUNITY IS A TEAM EFFORT

The Rhineland & Area Food Bank relies on an incredible network of volunteers, donors, businesses, and partners who all play a role in caring for neighbours in need. Friesens is proud to be one small part of that bigger picture.

We’re grateful to Ang Stoesz and the entire Food Bank team for the work they do, week in and week out…often quietly, always faithfully. And we’re just as grateful to Friesens employee owners for continuing to support organizations that strengthen our community in practical, meaningful ways.
