Creating a yearbook is fun and exciting, but it’s also a race against time. Between photo shoots, layouts, and last-minute edits, deadlines can sneak up on you fast! Here are some practical (and fun) ways to keep your team on track while at the same time keeping your cool:

USE MINI-DEADLINES
BIIIIIG deadlines can feel overwhelming, so break them down into bite-sized goals. For example,
- Sort and edit photos by next Friday.
- Draft captions by the following week.
- Complete layout by month-end.
Mini-deadlines keep progress steady and give your team regular wins to celebrate.
MATCH ROLES TO STRENGTHS
Not everyone loves writing copy, and that’s okay! Assign tasks based on what people enjoy and excel at. Photographers shoot, designers design, and writers write. When everyone plays to their strengths, work gets done faster…and better.

KEEP COMMUNICATION FLOWING
Quick daily check-ins or weekly huddles can make a huge difference. Use this time to share updates, troubleshoot problems, and cheer each other on. A connected team is a productive team!
MAKE IT FUN
Deadlines don’t have to feel like doom. Celebrate each one with something simple…pizza, donuts, or even a quick “you’re amazing” moment in class. Those little rewards boost morale and keep energy high, especially during these mid-year slumps!

STAY FLEXIBLE AND POSITIVE
Things happen…snow days, tech glitches, and surprise events. Build a little bit of a buffer in your schedule and keep the vibe positive when plans change. A calm, adaptable team will always find a way to cross the finish line.
