EUDR Update – October 7, 2025

| Books

As of the time of writing this article, final approval has not yet been received from the European Parliament with regards to further delaying the implementation of EUDR.

As you may know, on September 23, Jessika Roswall, European Commissioner for Environment notified the European Parliament and the European Council that the Commission is considering a postponement of the implementation of the EUDR for one year, indicating that the Commission’s information system for EUDR transactions is not expected to be able to adequately handle the volume of transactions.

With no new information today, we are in a “state of limbo” (uncertain and unresolved), but when we get additional information, we will provide another update.

Regarding the enforcement deadline … if implementation is not delayed further

The current enforcement deadline depends on the size of your company:

  • Large enterprises: Must be compliant by December 30, 2025.
  • Small and micro-enterprises (SMEs): Have until June 30, 2026 to comply.

SMEs are defined for the EUDR as companies that fulfil two of the following three criteria:

  • Less than 50 employees
  • Annual turnover below €10 million
  • Balance sheet total below €10 million
