Dollars For Diamonds

| Community

Friesens employee-owners continue to have an active part in the community by volunteering their time, energy and resources towards local business, fund-raising, coaching and many other ways that have a positive impact on the residents of Altona and beyond. One such example is the way Friesens has provided support for the Altona Angels Minor Softball program through their Dollars for Diamonds Fundraising Campaign in the amount of $10,000.

Brett Falk, US sales manager of Friesens yearbook division, has been working on the board as Fundraising Coordinator since October 2023 and explains his desire to be of assistance to this organization, but also has a very personal reason for being involved. Brett described it this way, “Volunteering is not just about giving time—it’s about being that drive for change that I want for my daughters’ and their friends. By investing in them, I hope to create a ripple effect of support, growth, and opportunity in the future.”

According to Rachel Wahl, AAMS President, their current program serves over 115 girls ranging from ages 5 to 19 and their goal is to provide them with up-to-date equipment, safe diamonds and top-quality facilities. She explains, “Our organization is dedicated to providing a safe, inclusive, and empowering environment for young athletes to develop their skills, build lasting friendships, and learn valuable life lessons through the game of softball.”

The values and goals of this organization align very closely with the way Friesens Corporation interact with their employee-owners and with the community as a whole, which is why it has become an important project to support and maintain.
