2024-25 Cover Contest Winners

| Yearbooks

The covers have been submitted, the finalists chosen, and the scoring completed…it’s time to announce the winners of the 2024-25 Friesens Cover Contest!

Entries came from all corners of North America, and they were all fantastic…we certainly don’t envy our judges! They were looked at with a critical eye by our three external experts, all with experience working with yearbook teams. So, without further ado…here are the winners of the 2024-25 Friesens Cover Contest!

HONOURABLE MENTIONS

Soft abstract yearbook cover with curved lines and text reading “Roseville Area High School” and “Ties That Last 2025.”
Roseville Area High School – Roseville, Minnesota
Yearbook cover featuring a blue and yellow bronco illustration with inspirational quotes and school year text.
J.H. Bruns Collegiate – Winnipeg, Manitoba
Yearbook cover featuring illustrated wolves and vibrant mountain scenery with the text “Adventure Awaits 2024–2025.”
Harry Collinge High School – Hinton, Alberta

“This cover is ON FIRE, and I’m so glad to see it listed among the honorable mentions. The color palette is perfect, and the black linework is punchy. No shame in your cover game, HCHS.”

THIRD PLACE

Yearbook cover with a racetrack design and bold text reading “2025 Life in the Fast Lane” in yellow typography.
Calvary Chapel High School – Santa Ana, California

SECOND PLACE

Three stylized tan horses running on a dark striped background with “Korah” and “24/25” text.
Korah Collegiate & Vocational School – Sault Ste. Marie, Ontario

“There are a lot of elements on this cover design that shouldn’t work, but somehow they do. Split the text down the middle AND THEN outline it? That’s insane. But it works. Diagonal stripes in the background? Normally, I’d avoid it at all costs, but the low contrast works, and reinforces the motion of the horses. Brown, tan and black? You made it look great! This cover reminds me to approach things differently in my own work. This is a super cool cover.”

FIRST PLACE

Gold Spartan-style helmet on a green background with “The Legacy Lives On” and anniversary dates.
Mayfield High School – Las Cruces, New Mexico

“The high school yearbook cover features a very strong classic design with no wasted space, showcasing solid design elements that make it a very worthy first choice!”

The 3rd place school wins $250, 2nd place wins $500, and the 1st place school wins $1,000! Congratulations to all of our finalists…we can’t wait to see what you produce next year!

We’d like to thank our judges David Burney, Stephen Williams, and Peter Wiebe for again helping us with the arduous task of choosing the best of the best.
