BOOKS ARE FOR EVERYONE!

Clarence Day once said –

“The world of books is the
most remarkable creation of man.
Nothing else that he builds ever lasts.
Monuments fall ‘nations perish’
civilizations grow old and die out,
and after an era of darkness,
new races build others.
But in the world of books
Are volumes that have seen this happen
again and again, and yet live on, still young,
still fresh as the day they were written,
and still telling men’s hearts
of men centuries dead.”

Friesens works with publishers from Canada and the United States to produce books that make lasting memories.

Check out the following book categories:

COFFEE TABLE BOOKS

Well illustrated books, with colourful photographs, and well written texts are a joy for anyone to receive. At Friesens, we print and bind coffee table books and picture books. Using sophisticated press and bindery technology . . . and highly skilled craftsmen, we can manufacture a book that will give anyone many hours of enjoyment.

TRADE BOOKS

Trade books are generally hard or soft cover books that are black and white, and approximately 6 inches by 9 inches. They include both fiction and non-fiction.

Whether it is a bestseller, or has a more narrow focus, Friesens can produce a quality book in a timely fashion. New titles are delivered in four weeks, and reprints in three weeks.

ART BOOKS

Friesens manufactures a variety of art books for galleries, artists, museums and collectors. Many Printing Industries of America awards, for fine printing and binding attest to the quality of work.

Whether the book or catalogue is going to be in colour, quadratone, duotone or black only, Friesens have the craftsmen and the equipment to ensure that the reproduction is as close to the original as possible.

In addition to colour separation and printing, Friesens provides a variety of finishing operations including foil stamping, embossing, die cutting, flaps, tip-ins, French-fold jackets, ribbons and more . . . all done in-house by Friesens.

EDUCATIONAL BOOKS

Books are still the preferred method of instruction, when it comes to educating ourselves. Friesens produces text books for the elementary / high school market.

Text books vary in size, with many of them having large page counts. At Friesens, we use large format sheetfed presses, capable of printing 32 and 48 page signatures. Friesens can provide educational standard binding, including reinforced endsheets.

COOKBOOKS

We all love to eat ! Publishers know that to sell their cookbooks, food must jump off the page . . . and at Friesens, this is exactly what we deliver. Our cookbooks are mouth-watering.

Many cookbooks are now printed in full colour. Others are done in black and white, with colour dividers spread throughout the book.

In order for a cookbook to be easily used in the kitchen, many of them are bound using Cerlox or plastic spiral. This allows them to lie flat on the kitchen counter, and not have to be pushed down to prevent them from springing shut.

CHILDREN’S BOOKS

The fastest growing book market in North America today is children’s books. Publishers are producing new books for children of all ages. Friesens produces more children’s books than any other book manufacturer in Canada. Whether it is a hard cover book with library binding, a paperback, or even a combination . . . Friesens provides a book that will stand up to long hours of enjoyment for any child who receives it.

CALENDARS

Time flies . . . but we all have to keep track of it, and for that reason there are many calendars on the market.

Friesens prints calendars for publishers, and for companies who require calendars for advertising purposes. Calendars can be desk-top for executives, twelve different pictures, or the ever-popular year-at-a-glance type that hangs on your wall.

Although a calendar is not considered a book, the process of manufacturing in quite similar. Calendars must be of high quality, printed with brilliant colours, and packaged for a quick sale.

Friesens produces over 1 million calendars each year in a variety of subjects.
